Norv and Ryan probably butted heads during their time together in Oakland. That would be strange since Ryan got the OAK defense to be pretty good, but their personalities might have clashed. So Norv wanted Skip Peete and Rob gone? Wonder what he has against them? Remember, Jerry said he was going to talk to people outside the organization...wondering if Jimmy whispered in his ear at all? Jason, Norv, and Jimmy are all pretty close.

Another name I've heard mentioned as a possible Rob Ryan replacement is Monte Kiffin, who is a 4-3 guru and mentored Lovie. Might be a solid fall-back, if Lovie ends up getting an HC gig somewhere else.

might make sense, given that Jason and Rob don't seem like they'd be "buddies" either.

With Kiffin on board, I expect one of the top 3 (probably one of the top 2) picks will be a safety. He kind of needs a good safety to make that stuff work. The good news is, this draft is packed with good guards and safeties. They are 2 of the deeper positions in the draft. I think we'll see a free agent or two added once some contracts are restructured. If we can make a run at someone like Levitre then we will. Vaccaro from UT or Baccari Rambo from Georgia would be a couple of good targets at safety. Since safeties and guards rarely go until the late teens or 20s, this might actually be a year when trading back would be a good idea.

Man, I got to watch a lot of practice on Tuesday since I was home with a sick Hannah. The part I really got to pay attention to was the one on one OL/DL practice. There was a kid from UCLA, I think, that was just amazing. I think his first 12 rounds he didn't let the opposition get past him. Very quick feet and strong as an ox.

did you get his name? I can't think of any UCLA OL in this draft.

Nope...I wanted to take notes on players that looked good/impressive, but tending to Hannah kept me from remembering to do so.

You know, it might not have been UCLA. But the helmet was definitely similar to their style. Gold and whatnot.

Georgia Tech...that could have been it.
What school has the mascot of the Chippewas? That kid was a beast also.

Central Michigan..Eric Fisher. That dude is going top 10...they loved him on film and he has been even better in person at the senior bowl...said he was the best player for either team at any position.

YES!!! That's him. He looked amazing. He won't, but I would be pretty damn excited if he for some reason slipped down to 18.
