Oddly enough, they remind me of the 95-96 team (I think that was the year) that struggled, but learned a lot that season. That was the ground floor for the 1999 Cup run. I'm not saying that they are as talented as them, but at least they are competitive in all 6 games. All one goal games. Now, it's just a matter of being on the positive side of those one-goal games that will be the bitch...

Yep...that was a thrashing. But hey, its a long, 82 game season...uh, wait a second. Crap...
Well, lets just chalk this season up as "a growing season for the young kids" and let's see how this thing is going at the end.

They just seem unorganized on the offensive end. With a new guy like that, its all about finding someone who you have chemistry with. And he is 40...

Looks like Oleksiak is making his debut tomorrow. I'm pretty excited to see how he does up here. The dude is a massive man, 6'7" 255lbs. Before he hits people, you hear "I will break you", then the collision happens. Well, that was as gutty as a loss could get. Losing 4-3 to an elite team while being down the top two center ice men (Jamie Benn, work visa issues and Derek Roy, injured) and also being without Jagr. But, just like against Chicago, the young defense just didn't do what they needed to do. That might just be a common theme in this shortened season. Jamie Oleksiak call-up could be coming later on. He's the defenseman we drafted two years ago. He's as close to a Derian Hatcher clone as there is.

I can picture Dolph Lundgren as a hockey player, but Brigitte Nielsen is scarier than him now. Maybe Oleksiak is their lovechild.

You might be on to something. Have you seen a picture of him?? He could be a Dolph stunt double. I can picture Dolph Lundgren as a hockey player, but Brigitte Nielsen is scarier than him now. Maybe Oleksiak is their lovechild.

Solid win last night in Colorado, 3-2. No matter who is in the Avalanche sweaters, they are always a pesky team for Dallas to play. They always seem to find these Euros who can stickhandle like a MFer and are very quick. Lehtonen was great and it was the best skating game for Benn since signing his contract and it showed with a 2 goals and an assist. A nice takeaway at the COL blue line and he rifled a wrist shot low, blocker side. The defense had a good game as a whole. But, the one gigantic issue still screwing this team over is penalties. Just a ridiculous amount of penalties. At one point in the second, they took 3 penalties in a 7 minute strectch. The final COL PP resulted in a goal. The PK was actually really good. Brenden Dillon is becoming a pretty stout defenseman. Oleksiak is settling in pretty nice.

Man...I love having NHL Network. They show Hockey Night In Canada every week. Don Cherry is so wheels off and insane.
