I still think the biggest problem was not calling the TO after Dez caught the ball. He had 2. Call the TO and then decide what you want to do. If you want to kill the clock then kneel on it and let it run down, then use your last TO and walk your kicking team out there. It just gives you options. As a former QB, Dilfer put it on Garrett. He said in that situation, the coach should be calling the TO. Keyshawn put it on the entire team. He said all of them should have been calling for the TO even if Garrett wasn't. Agreed. The idiots over at Grandpa Urine's show (I think it was specifically Steve Dennis) blamed the non-timeout/spiking call entirely on Romo - said that is the QB's role in that situation, and this is further proof he isn't an elite QB, blah blah blah

That is just stupid. If Garrett wanted that TO, he would have called it. The QB looks at the sidelines for direction in those moments. Romo could have called it without Garrett wanting it (which is what I wish he had done) but to absolve Garrett from the majority of the blame here is just idiotic. Name one person who should be more prepared that the head coach for every single scenario. While Romo is running for his life on 3rd down, focused 100% on what he is doing and the defense, the head coach should already have it in his head what he wants next.
1) if we get the first, I want to call a TO. 2) if we don't get the first, obviously we have to go for it, what personnel groups do I want? What play call?
The head coach HAS to already know that stuff as the play is happening. Romo should have made the call after all was said and done, but even that probably loses 2-3 more seconds than it should. Garrett EFF'd that. Romo could have helped, but it isn't on him nearly as much as Garrett.

I think it is on both of them, Garrett's answers pretty much tell me that he did not tell Romo to clock it and had no idea what his gameplan was after the Dez catch (as what was speculated earlier). Romo has been in enough of these situations to know that the time out should have been taken once he looked to the sideline and saw Garrett glassy eyed. I agree that it is more on Garrett than Romo but it is like 60-40...

What I hate is that this loss will go into the "Romo can't win in December" discussion when this game is not his fault.
