...the Cowboys look TERRIBLE. Last week, at least the starting offense and defense looked good. Tonight, the starting offense has been mediocre, and the defense has been ATROCIOUS.

I thought our secondary was suppose to be BETTER with Jenkins, Jones & Scandrick. I know Newman is out, but still.....

The good: * Special teams looked much better this week. Outside of the first kickoff, the coverage units held the Denver returners in check. Also, seeing Pacman make that nice punt return was promising. We should stop the time waste of Amendola at punt returns and get Jones some more work back there. Stanback looks like he has something on kickoffs. * Felix Jones again is showing the Cowboys made a smart pick. His speed and vision are really going to be an asset on this offense. * Pacman at CB is getting much better, his recovery speed looks to be the best on the team. He covers so much ground while the ball is in the air. Once he really gets comfortable with this scheme and gets some help from the pass rush, he is going to make some plays. * Myles Austin had another good game and I think is making the case to be the slot receiver if Crayton ends up being the #2. Hopefully his injury isn't too serious.
The bad: * Too many effin penalties! Wade really needs to do something in practice to rectify this problem, it is killing offensive drives and extending their defense. * I really thought the 1st team defense was soft tonight, especially the secondary. They were playing way off the ball and, without a pass rush to protect them, Cutler was just playing catch with his receivers. * Brad Johnson played better tonight but I still think he's arm is just too shot to cover for Romo for extended periods of time. Also, I think he has a little of Bledsoe-itis, holding the ball too long and not getting rid of it. * I'm sure he will get his act together by the start of the season but some of Mcbriar's punts were TERRIBLE. * For the 2nd week, I thought the 2nd team O-line looked to be getting beat for too often. Bartell and Johnson seemed really uncomfortable back there and it cost them, what could have been, some big plays downfield.
I really hope the Cowboys play the first half against the Texans as a dress rehearsal. I really wanna see them compete at full speed and put our concerns to rest.

romo did not look good at all, and all the DMN reporters agreed that he had a bad week of practice in Denver

Yeah, I'm ready to bail on that Romo idiot...forget the past 2 seasons that he was lighting it up...a bad week vs Denver and 2 mediocre possessions of a preseason game is enough for me...bring on Brad!

Good point. Romo is fine. It's just pre-season. I'm sure Aikman looked average at some point during the early 90s.

well, I know we went 5-0 and looked very good in 1989...that is, until teams started playing their starters 4 quarters and game planning....

Romo was 6-9 for 33 yards. From what I read (haven't seen the game yet) he missed Hurd open on what would have been a long pass. Hardly time to panic...

Yep, he had to shuffle to his right, got out of the pocket and saw Hurd streaking behind his defender. He over threw him by a couple steps. He told spare Steve Dennis during the 3rd Q that the didn't think about the thin air when he threw it.
