Chris Kelly of the '90s rap duo Kriss Kross has died, confirms the Associated Press. He was 34. Kelly was reportedly found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on Wednesday. The cause of death has yet to be determined, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Kriss Kross was best known for the infectious hit "Jump" from their 1992 debut album, "Totally Krossed Out," and their trademark backwards clothes. The duo consisted of Kelly, known as Mac Daddy, and Chris Smith, called Daddy Mac. They were discovered at an Atlanta mall by producer Jermaine Dupri, and were just 13 when "Totally Krossed Out" exploded onto the charts.
Soon, they were touring with Michael Jackson and starring in their own video game. Unfortunately, the group's next two studio albums failed to match the multiplatinum success of their debut, although they had additional hits with songs such as "Warm It Up," "Alright" and "Tonite's tha Night."

I'm torn on how to vote. On one hand, he isn't trifecta worthy. But on the other, I knew exactly who he was when I heard the name, which is how I base my vote. But, there are exceptions to every rule and this little turd should not be in a 3 bedroom apartment in the sky...

yeah, he's definitely instantly recognizable, but one spare novelty hit is not trifecta-worthy

If someone said "Chris Kelly died" I'd be like...wasn't he a short stop for Toronto back in the day? It had to be "Chris Kelly from Kriss Kross" for me to know...and even then I am not sure if he was Kriss or Kross or Mac Daddy or Daddy Mac. He could be mac'n cheese for all I know.

My criteria isn't just that I recognize them but that they made some kind of significant contribution in my opinion.

Yep. The only thing he contributed was punch lines for others.
