I went into this with so-so expectations from the trailers I had seen and came out pleasantly surprised. This was one of the funnier and darker movies of the year, which I loved. The whole "Jack of Diamonds" storyline was entertaining although it became obvious who it was fairly quickly. The ensemble cast as a whole did really well, especially Rockwell's, Harrelson's and Walker's hilarious characters.
The story is very abstract, as it revolves around Colin Farrell trying to write a screenplay about the "Seven Psychopaths" and his struggle to come up with each one. It takes several dips and turns once the Jack of Diamonds subplot kicks in and the Amish throat slash story intertwines. I especially enjoyed Zachariah and Maggie's segment and their scenes were awesome. The "final shootout" imagined sequence and actual scenes were both entertaining and laugh out loud funny. The imagined shootout was how No Country For Old Men should have ended. The Vietnamese monk portion felt a little forced but the hotel hooker scenes were funny.
Overall, big thumbs up and worth theater price. If you enjoy dark comedies, you will enjoy this. Be sure to stay a little after the credits start to see Farrell and Wait's end scene since the message he requested didn't make the ending.
