I didn't go in with high expectations for this but was pleasantly surprised with how well it was done. The story was interesting, the animation felt unique and the voice acting was solid. The thing that made it stand out to me though was the writing and dialogue felt smarter than in normal animated kid movies.
The plot of the movie felt much more adult themed than you would expect and really young kids might even find it kind of disturbing. I for one appreciated the darker tones and references that only older teens or adults would get. I'm sure the whole isolation and freak feeling character themes will resonate with alot of viewers as well.
Overall, thumbs up and worth a theater view. I didn't see the movie in 3-D but I could see how it might have been better to watch that version since alot of things seemed to fly at the screen, especially toward the climactic final battle at the end.
