I went in expecting it to be about on par with the others but this one actually felt like a step back. Of all the Resident Evil movies before it, this one felt the most like watching someone play a video game, which I did not think was a good thing.
The action scenes and CGI were entertaining but the story felt like a few side missions on a PS3 and the acting was as cheesy as it gets, especially the shaded blonde guy with his hair slicked back and looking like a total douche. Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez were ok but the chick playing Jill Valentine was straight out of a Scy-Fy channel B-movie. The finale sequence at the end left absolutely nothing resolved and made the whole movie feel like just a stepping stone to the next.
Overall, the 3-D was decent, so for big fans of this franchise, it might be worth a matinee showing at the theater. For casual fans (like me), it was more of a wait for cable watch.
