Solid remake and better than I was expecting. Lots of good action and Farrell did a decent job stepping into Arnold's shoes. Biel and Beckinsale were also good as the leading female characters.
Although the basic premise of the movie was the same, the story and details of the plot are very different, so if you are expecting a straight copy paste of the original, you will be (possibly) pleasantly surprised. The new plot revolving around "I, Robot" looking androids taking over was ok and seemed to make a little more sense than the old Mars needs oxygen story in the original. I was disappointed though that Kuato was left completely out of the story.
They also altered it in that Sharon Stone's original character makes it through the whole movie (Beckinsale) and is the main antagonist for Quaid-Hauser. This was an improvement though since Michael Ironside's character in the original was a whip. It was also funny to see Walt White playing the main bad guy but he didn't put up much of a fight at the end.
Overall, thumbs up and worth theater price but try to do matinee. It's not the campy fun of the original but it is a well done movie that didn't drag and effects were cool. The chase scenes in the hover cars were especially nice.
