yeah...and I don't like it. He better prove me wrong. Well, Spencer has proved me wrong. Maybe they'll find a way to work out a long term deal with him, but I still would not give him too much guaranteed...he needs to EARN his money. I fear him getting lazy again if he gets paid. I also posted this here about Dez, "Bryant would be great as "Irvin" but he'll have to step it up on the field...he needs some big 3rd and 4th quarters. He needs some 100 yard games. He needs 2-3 games where he absolutely dominates the other team." Well, he has done that and more. Big 4th quarters, multiple 100 yard games, domination. If his pinky finger was in vs NY, we might be talking about that catch like the Hail Mary to Pearson...one of the greatest ever by a Cowboy.

I was just thinking the other day how different things could be right now if Dez's finger had stayed in bounds on that catch...AND if Bailey had made that FG to beat the Ravens (not faulting him - tough kick). Man, we'd REALLY be in the catbird's seat right now if we were 10-4, instead of 8-6. Of course, even at 8-6, we still control our own destiny.

Agree completely. That kick vs Balt was 50/50 at best. Over 50 yards in a stadium with swirling wind...that is tough. He is so clutch though, I have no doubt he makes that in a dome. The Dez catch...if he jumps a millisecond sooner, or if he was running SLIGHTLY slower he comes down in bounds. 10-4 would look much different, no doubt. As much as Garrett makes me crazy, those 2 breaks would certainly make him look much different...toss in a couple less injured and who knows where we might be. I'm at the point where I think unless Payton's agent contacts Jerry, there is no chance Red-J goes anywhere this offseason. Would be nice if we brought in Norv to help with the offense, but that is what Callahan was supposed to do. Now, considering how much better the OL has been the past 2 or 3 weeks (especially given the lack of talent and injuries he has had to work with) I'm pretty impressed with Callahan, so I don't want to dump him as the "OC" to bring in Norv and I don't know if he'd want to stick around as JUST the OL coach. Plus, Jerry has said many times that he doesn't want a "walk around" coach, he wants a coach/coordinator, preferably an OC.
I wonder if Norv would consider "relaxing" with a nice offensive quality assistant / assistant to the GM role? Fewer true hours coaching, more film study, breaking down opponents, looking at draft prospects, etc.

Not too hot...Norv has been terrible as a HC everywhere he has gone. Those guys usually get a couple of shots and then it is coordinator for life.

Sturm swears Norv will be here within the week. Donovan says no way. I lean towards Donovan. The problem is that Callahan is supposed to be the OC and OL Coach. Is he going to accept a "demotion"? Would he be the "running game coordinator" and Norv the "passing game coordinator" and would Norv call plays? Too many "what ifs" and "hows"...just don't see it getting done.

I heard this morning that Rex Ryan wants Norv up there as his OC. Then that means Sparano gets axed. Does he come here as OL coach (wasn't that what he was when he was here 6 or so years ago?) and have Callahan as full on OC? Sturm swears Norv will be here within the week. Donovan says no way. That OL was getting much better by the end of the season. Given that we really have ONE starter quality player on the OL, that is a good job of coaching. I'd rather have Callahan than Sparano at this point.

Agreed. I hope Callahan stays on. If he can get that awful group of players to look as decent as they did near the end of the season, just imagine what he can do with guys that actually have talent to go along with Smith.
