First, Spencer admits he was lazy. Then Austin admits he came in last year not ready to play. Now, Ogletree says he was lazy and is re-dedicating himself to being a pro football player.
Anybody else sick of this? I'm ready to see Jason tell someone to go have asthma on that field over there. Cut a 'big name' for being a worthless turd. Anything. I'm TIRED of hearing how these guys didn't work hard in the offseason. You wonder why this team can't make plays in the 4th quarter of tight games. Here you go.
While everyone is up in arms about Romo playing golf (he NEVER misses an offseason workout) why do we give every other person on the roster the ok to be lazy and worthless.
Garrett needs to send a message. Time to shake these guys up. I'm tired of reading these stories.

We just gave one of the "lazys" a franchise tag to make him one of the top 5 OLB's in the league and I don't see any rescinding in sight. Jerry doesn't seem to be too worried about it and Garrett hasn't had the sack to take matters into his own hands.

The best thing about Spencer (and Jenkins) is that they are both playing for a big contract (most likely elsewhere) next year so they should be motivated. When Bowen was 'ok' for us and he got a nice deal elsewhere, we got a 4th round pick as compensation. If Jenkins and Spencer can both get that for us, I'll live with it. I don't think there were any free agents out there that we really wanted but did not go get because of the money given to Spencer. I just hate seeing that turd rewarded.

it doesn't seem to be limited to the cowboys - i think it's really a generational thing these days
for whatever reason, the athletes of today (by and large) just aren't as self-motivated as they used to be

You'll have to show me some articles where some athlete said they just didn't get themselves ready. There will always be lazy players. Always have been. I'm tired of guys that we DEPEND ON (not Ogletree so much, but Austin and Spencer for sure) being lazy. It DOES cost us in tight games. It made Austin miss much of the season with hamstring problems.
You think the Ravens have a bunch of out of shape guys? We need a Ray Lewis (Micheal Irvin) type on this team to crack skulls. Ware and Romo work hard, but someone needs to be the sergeant at arms on this thing...maybe Woicik will help.

i would love it if ware would become the team skull cracker - he certainly should be able to command that level of respect among his teammates

Ware is too established already to make that mentality switch, I think. It'll have to be a young guy. Maybe Lee...Bryant would be ideal in the Irvin mold.

Several guys on the team have already commented that Lee has shown vocal leadership in the locker room and at practices, so he definitely seems like a solid potential candidate.

Yeah, looks like Lee will be one of them on defense. Bryant would be great as "Irvin" but he'll have to step it up on the field...he needs some big 3rd and 4th quarters. He needs some 100 yard games. He needs 2-3 games where he absolutely dominates the other team. When you are producing, then all the barking on the sideline means something. When you're 'ok' then you're just a loudmouth. It is a fine line those guys walk. Irvin did it right. TO did not (even when he put up numbers). We need him to be more Irvin.

Yeah, maybe Murray could be that guy. Hard to think of too many really vocal leaders that were RBs but there have been a few.
