Yu Darvish's dad is a Cowboys fan? 'Roger Staubach was fun to watch' AText Size SportsDayDFW.com Published: 20 January 2012 10:52 AM
Among the interesting facts about Farsad Darvish, the father of new Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish, is that he's a big Cowboys fan, according to Richard Durrett of ESPN.com. Farsad lived in America for a while, attending high school in Massachusetts while the Dallas Cowboys were at the height of their America's Team glory. "I've always been a Cowboys fan," Farsad said. "That was the Tony Dorsett era. Roger Staubach was fun to watch, too. They were winning a lot of championships then." So it didn't hurt the Rangers' chances of wooing the Japanese ace that on he and his dad's visit to Arlington, Cowboys Stadium was so close to where his son would be pitching. "The baseball and football stadiums are right there, and the Mavericks are not that far," Farsad said. "It's amazing to see top sports and champions all in the same area. I call it a huge sports hub."
