www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/story/2012-01-02/manu-ginobili-broken-hand-out-indefinitely/52347670/1MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili broke his left hand Monday night against Minnesota and is out indefinitely.
The Spurs say Ginobili will be examined by team doctors Tuesday in San Antonio. There is no timetable for his return. "It's going to be tough for us because he was playing at an All-Star level," point guard Tony Parker said after the Spurs lost to the T'wolves 106-96. "And now we're going to have to have everybody pick it up." The team's leading scorer is the emotional and fiery center of this proud, veteran team. With Tim Duncan getting older and having his minutes limited to save him for the postseason, the offense revolves around Ginobili's perimeter shooting and slashing to the basket.
Beautiful opportunity to tank...shut Duncan down with an "injury" and let Parker jell with the young guys (Splitter, Blair, Anderson, Leonard). Parker needs to learn to co-exist with the Spurs future without Duncan and Manu in the picture and this is the perfect chance for him to do just that. Reload with a top 5 pick in next year's draft, amnesty Jefferson and use the MLE to sign a decent big and title contention will be attainable again. Top 5 pick MLE player Healthy and rested Manu and Timmy Seasoned young guys returning with tons of experience under their belt Next season could not be scripted any better for 1 last title run.

BTW, congrats to the Mavs for winning the division this year, no one will even contend for it now.

Don't count out Memphis just yet...lots of talent over there. Memphis will be a playoff team but I don't think they have enough to usurp Dallas from the division crown.

Pretty sure the Thunder will coast to The Finals. Not if we meet them. We are 7-3 in our last 10 vs them and that includes Durant's 32ft spinning 3pt with 1.4 seconds left last week. We just handled them pretty well and we're still figuring things out with all the new players.

I think with last year's seasoning, they will be MUCH tougher to take down in the post season.

didn't look like it the two time we played them. We are probably no more than 70% right now. Those guys were playing during the lockout.

They just don't scare me. Miami does. Beating them last year was different. I'd still be more than happy to take my chances though.

According to Spurs Twitter, Ginoboli is having surgery and will be about 6-8 weeks minimum. That is a season ender...
