I can't believe we finally win a title in Dallas and we don't even get to celebrate it. It has completely taken a back seat to the dumb-ass players and their dissolving union.
By the way, if the owners were losing money as they claim (and I believe many of them were) then they are actually financially benefiting from not playing games. The players on the other hand (minus a few of the $10M a year guys) are going to get hurt in this. Many of them live nice lifestyles, but today was to be payday. No more checks, we'll see how strong their resolve is. Better start selling those mansions and Bentleys...good luck in this economy.
Players - you over played your hand and backed yourself into a corner. Dozens of individual lawsuits will just draw this out. Collective bargaining was the only way it ends quickly. Why don't you understand how DUMB you are being? The owners take ALL of the risk. If you get a 4 yr $15M contract (pretty paltry by NBA standards) you will get EVERY PENNY, no matter what.
If you suck, fans don't show up. The owners take a beating but you still get paid. You have NO RISK.
The owners are entitled to a larger piece of the pie. They OWN the team. They take ALL of the risk. They will be there long after you are gone. You don't deserve 60%. You don't deserve 55%. You don't even deserve the 50% they offered you.
