Muslims do not eat or drink ANYTHING during daylight hours. The sun comes up at 4am and goes down at 6pm so during that time no restaurants are open and you aren't supposed to eat or drink in public.
Well, I WORK in PUBLIC...so we aren't supposed to have water or food all day.
They make exceptions for us and we get water and lunch but we have to be secret about it (geez, I'm doing super-secret in Qatar).
I don't know how they do it...rough stuff this Ramadan. They get up at 3am to eat a huge breakfast and then fast all day (not even water...in the DESERT!) until just after 6pm.
It will last the entire month. Glad I'm going to Rome for a week right in the middle of it.

you're telling me....and last night the doo-doo sprayer in the front bathroom decided to bust at about 10:30....I just happened to be going to the kitchen to get something to drink when I realized the entire apt was flooded...stayed up while the workers fixed it and cleaned...no idea what time I got to bed, but 4:30am came AWFUL early this morning.
