Well, here I am stuck in the middle east in the middle of Ramadan. Muslims do not eat or drink ANYTHING during daylight hours. The sun comes up at 4am and goes down at 6pm so during that time no restaurants are open and you aren't supposed to eat or drink in public. Well, I WORK in PUBLIC...so we aren't supposed to have water or food all day.
They make exceptions for us and we get water and lunch but we have to be secret about it (geez, I'm doing super-secret in Qatar). I don't know how they do it...rough stuff this Ramadan. They get up at 3am to eat a huge breakfast and then fast all day (not even water...in the DESERT!) until just after 6pm.
It will last the entire month. Glad I'm going to Rome for a week right in the middle of it.

There is a guy at work who observes Ramadan. He does the same thing, eats a huge breakfast really early and goes and does his worship thing at lunch.
