Dangit Dutch...seriously, .2 of an inning last time out...crap. um... He is so frustrating to watch. He has amazing stuff, but he isn't very consistant in hitting his location. That is what gets him into trouble. That, and walking guys. The games he has when he is focused and shows what he can do makes you say "damn, that dude will be in the rotation for the next 12 years. But then the games like the last one make you think he should give up baseball. I sure hope that when he gets his stuff together, he is in a Rangers uniform and not some other team. He is the Chris Davis of pitching...

The Stars are running a Ticket promo with Rangers players talking about how great the Stars are...which includes fake Arnold Schwarzeneger being done by the Dutch Oven. I bet that promo makes Dave crazy...

I'm already on record saying Holland will have a sub .500 season 12-13. I hope for the best but lets face it any pitcher getting 5.5 runs a game support can be a 16 game winner. Time for the dude to grow the fuck up. Had he pitched same night as CJ he'd have been a 12 game winner. For some reason the bats showed up the nights he pitched that will not always be the case. $50 million dollar arm ¢.10 brain. His 3.95 ERA ain't getting him stardom with his comedy routine.

I heard that promo for the first time yesterday, and all I can say is that I hope Holland's arm hasn't gotten as rusty this offseason as his Arnold impression has. It was TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE.

I'm pointing out facts he had the highest run production backing in the major leagues last year. 3.95 ERA is average in the majors for a guy that is thought of to be a number two pitcher. So his fastball ain't going to get faster, he isn't going to throw a better change up. What could possibly improve to make this kid a better pitcher? I'm thinking what's between his ears. You talk about the Rangers brain trust Nolan, Maddox, Daniels, now Greg Maddox they are thinking men. We have the minds in place to reign this kid in. But as long as people think he's funny give his joking nature affirmation he'll never mature.
Think of what we are saying about Dez. Needs to growuo. Same thing here growing a afro and mustache are funny. But while another pitcher on your team is being shelled in a major league game not the best time to work on your lounge act.
Even Nolan thinks there needs to be growing and development by Holland.
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers CEO and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan said Monday that Derek Holland's Game 4 performance the "biggest game of his career." Holland went 8 1/3 scoreless innings, leading the Rangers to a 4-0 win that tied the series at two.
Listen "And it's the biggest game of our organization," Ryan said. "He stepped up and it says volumes about where he's come in his maturity. I still think that there will be growing and developing with Derek."
Ryan was asked if he had a game like Holland's, where on a big stage he knew things were clicking for him. Ryan said the decision of Gil Hodges to bring him into third inning of the NLCS at Shea Stadium against the Braves in 1969 was the biggest moment of his career. With runners at second and third and the Braves with an early lead, Ryan, a rookie, was asked to pitch to Rico Carty. He struck him out and ended up going the rest of the way, not allowing a run in the final four innings. Ryan had seven strikeouts and earned the win as the Mets went to the World Series.
"To bring me in in that situation, I was as dumbfounded as the fans were when he brought me in," Ryan said. "But that was a big moment in my career. It had an impact on my career."
Ryan believes Game 4 will do the same for Holland.
"Do I think last night is going to have an impact on Derek Holland's career? Yeah, I really do," Ryan said. "Do I think he's going to struggle at times? Yeah, he's going to continue to struggle at times, but I think that what he experienced last night and what he accomplished is going to be very beneficial to him."
