GREAT movie...one of the best sports movies I have ever seen. Wahlberg was solid as Mickey Ward but Christian Bale stole the show as his crackhead brother. He and his whip family provided tons of comedic relief and the Ward's backstory was very interesting. I only had 2 gripes with this movie...
1.) How can you do a Micky Ward movie and not include any of the Arturo Gatti stuff? It was the pinnacle of his sports career...that was like doing a movie about JFK and not including November 22, 1963.
2.) Some of the actual boxing scenes looked really fake and cheesy. Lots of dropping hands and letting themselves getting hit. The boxing coach that choreographed those scenes should be ashamed of himself.
Aside from these 2 issues, this is a MUST-SEE and worth theater price...thumbs up!

I agree completely. The fight scenes were very poorly choreographed.
The only thing I could figure on the Gatti stuff was that Ward didn't want to get into it because of how Gatti died...nothing else makes sense.

I started wondering if maybe whoever is in charge of the Gatti estate didn't allow that to be in the movie as I would think they might need permission. Who knows? But it definitely felt incomplete and at the very least had lots of funny parts with the toxic mom and drug addict brother.

not to mention some VERY nice see-thru on Amy Adams.

not to mention some VERY nice see-thru on Amy Adams. I was onboard with the "MTV chick" beating the crap out of the sister...

I was all set to get excited about the rare Arla post, but I'm guessing it was just Junior accidentally logged in as her.
