guys picked at 9 in past drafts:
2009 - BJ Raji
2008 - Keith Rivers
2007 - Ted Ginn Jr
2006 - Ernie Simms
2005 - Carlos Rogers
2004 - Reggie Williams
2003 - Kevin Williams
2002 - John Henderson
2001 - Koren Robinson
There will be talent to be had 9. Someone like Prince Amukamara (or Patrick Peterson if he falls to us) will be there. Another option will likely be to trade back into the teens and take the best OL available. Right now none are projected as high as 10, but a team that really covets the top CBs might be willing to move up to get them. I don't want to trade back into the 20s, but mid teens might not be too bad.
Dave called me as the game ended today actually sad that we won. I'm sorry, but I'm a Cowboy fan and I ALWAYS want to win and even more, I ALWAYS want to beat Philly. Washington may be the more storied rival for us, but for our generation, Philly has been the true bad guy for us. I hate Washington and I hate NY, but I hate Philly so much more than any other team in the NFL, I would rather have the win against them and the 20th pick in the first round than to lose to them and get the 5th pick.
F*CK'EM. F*CK'EM in the A** while pouring sugar in their gas tanks.

I'm loving the fact we beat them with our 3rd QB and their starting QB for the season opener. Before the game, there was no way we were dropping out of the top ten if we won. Screw Philthydelphia...Screw the Vagiants...screw the Foreskins.

We actually pick 9th, and only would have been 6th had we lost yesterday, so only ended up missing out on three spots... sportsblogs.star-telegram.com/cowboys/2011/01/cowboys-will-draft-ninth.htmlThe Cowboys would have drafted sixth if they had lost to the Eagles. espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4676813/feelin-a-draft-whos-no-9The Cowboys earned the ninth overall pick with their 6-10 season, the highest they’ll draft since taking Terence Newman fifth overall in 2003, unless Jerry Jones trades down.
Here’s a quick look at the players ranked ninth overall right now on the draft boards of ESPN’s experts.
Texas A&M OLB Von Miller, a pass-rushing machine from DeSoto, is No. 9 on Mel Kiper’s Big Board. Miller would be a phenomenal fit in a 3-4 defense, but it’s extremely unlikely that the Cowboys will pick the local kid. Anthony Spencer didn’t have a good season, but he’s a recent first-round pick who has demonstrated the ability to be a force opposite perennial Pro Bowler DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys have too many glaring needs to spend a top-10 pick on this position.
Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn is ninth in Scouts Inc.’s rankings. Clayborn played in a 4-3 scheme with the Hawkeyes, but at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, he has the frame to be a 3-4 defensive end who would move inside on passing downs. Marcus Spears, Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher will all be unrestricted free agents – and at least two aren’t likely to return to Valley Ranch – so defensive end ranks up there with the offensive line and secondary on the Cowboys’ list of draft priorities.

We actually pick 9th, and only would have been 6th had we lost yesterday, so only ended up missing out on three spots... Still would rather have the 3 spots up than a meaningless win over the Eagles practice squad...

yeah, we moved up a spot with the Seahawks winning last night.
I'll take a win over the eagles and drop those 3 spots any day. I'd take the win and drop 10 spots. EFF THOSE PIECES OF $HIT
Our practice squad vs theirs...there is no more important position on the field than QB. Ours was a 3rd stringer making his first ever start on the road in one of the toughest stadiums in the NFL against a pressure defense designed to get after QBs (and they hit him A LOT). Their QB was the reason they traded McNabb. He started the year as the starter because they believed he was their franchise QB. He has started plenty of NFL games, plus he was at home.

I think they said on the broadcast the Eagles had like 3 starters total in there yesterday...that is a game 1 preseason ratio...Even if Kolb was a starter at the beginning of the year, the Eagles sat just about everyone else with Vick. Nothing in this spare win to be excited about, Philly or not.

Man, looking at past drafts and it becomes real clear that even the top 15 is a crap shoot. This is a decent link to look at past drafts. You can just replace the year in the URL to look at different years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NFL_Draft

I'm with Gary - rather have the win. I'd probably feel different if it cost us like 10-15 slots, but only 3 and we're still in the top 10 is worth ending the season on a positive - especially against the Eagles AT Philly.

Listening to Norm...found out the Cowboys win made the schedule next year a little tougher in a few games... Even Norm knows that is a joke. Who thought we'd be a patsy this year? Who thought Minnesota was going to suck? How many teams looked at Tampa and said "we should win that game" before the season? You just never know who is going to do what each year (minus a few teams at the very top). I know you certainly did not believe we had any chance of beating Indy this year after Romo went down.
