ok....for now.
Mavs have started off playing good defense. Roddy is still hurt which is starting to make me worried that the foot isn't healing well. He is good because he is so fast. He won't be fast without his wheels.
I still don't expect much from the team overall as it is currently constructed. We are basically the same as we were, although we are bigger and more athletic up front with the change to Chandler/Haywood/Mahinmi over Damp/Haywood. I think Chandler is going to be so good for this team, there is a chance that he sticks and Haywood is later dealt (if they will give Mahinmi a chance to show he can be the backup).
We still don't have a true SG, but DOJO could develop into that (not likely with Carlisle's rotation). We still don't have a true backup PG. We don't have a reliable 2nd scorer. Come playoff time someone will double and triple Dirk and dare anyone else to beat them. If someone gets hot we can make a run. If not, we will be one and done....again.
It will be interesting to see what SGs may be available out there before the deadline and if we're interested in the move.

Spurs are 4-1 after a nice win in Houston...defense is still suspect though.

mavs are looking very good - especially impressed by their defense so far
spurs are a paper tiger - they are giving up well over 100 per game, and had to struggle at home last night against an injury depleted clippers team that sucks even when at full strength

He is by far their best post defender and that includes Duncan. Blair has been one of the major reasons why their defense has not been great. He is too short to guard PF's and centers straight up, which is causing the Spurs to scramble on double teams to help him...which in turn is opening up 3's for the other team. Still though, 6-1 for a team that I thought would be the 3rd best team in the division...I'll take it.

I'm good with the defense so far...the win over the Celtics was impressive. However, this appears to be the same old team. Capable of beating any team on any night, but also capable of losing to anyone. Until Roddy B gets on the floor and get minutes and if DOJO develops, I'm worried about us in a series with good teams.
However, I have been wishing Stevenson would get playing time since the trade. He is a big, physical defender and is very good in that role. It helps if he can hit the occasional open shot, but I think this is a guy that should get 15-25 minutes a night on our team depending on matchups. He is TOUGH and we don't have enough of that.

Undefeated Hornets roll into town for the first night of a home and home. Should be good times at AAC.

Our first real test vs a waterbug PG...those guys always cause us problems and Chris Paul is probably the best of the 6ft PGs.
