IRVING, Texas (AP) - Dallas Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin won't have to wait until after the season for a long-term contract.
The Cowboys and Hamlin agreed Tuesday on a $39 million, six-year deal with about $15 million guaranteed, according to the team's Web site. The agreement was first reported by The Dallas Morning News.
As the team's designated franchise player, Hamlin had until Tuesday to reach a long-term deal or else play the 2008 season under a one-year contract for $4.4 million. That's the average salary of the five highest-paid safeties in the NFL.
He had a career-high five interceptions and 102 tackles last season, his first in Dallas after four years in Seattle. He was a starter for the NFC in his first Pro Bowl.
The team didn't immediately comment. This is definitely a good move, we needed to make sure he was secured for when we eventually let Roy Williams go. Now we just have to make sure Anthony Henry is onboard with Free Safety and our secondary is set for the next 5 years at least...

yeah, now we are only one #2 WR away from a title I would give Glenn the preseason to show me something. If he is still struggling after going up against preseason backups...time to start looking around.

if you don't think there is a lot of difference between T.O. and Joe Horn, you don't know much about football I was just talking age dude...Horn hasnt been really good for about 2 years but I would take him over an injured Glenn until we have some more faith in Austin and Hurd. Crayton and his butterfingers need to stay in the slot...

Way over paid for, when we are back to being horrible in 2012 remember over paying for players like MB3, Hamlin, and Roy Williams. This handicaps your team for years. You don't over pay for one good year of play.
