LOS ANGELES — Don LaFontaine, the man behind the chilling voice in various movie trailers and commercials, died Monday, his agent said. He was 68.
LaFontaine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from a collapsed lung, ETOnline reported. The official cause of death, however, was not immediately released.
LaFontaine's vocal talents have appeared in over 5,000 movie trailers and nearly 350,000 commercials. He is most famous for the introductory line, "In a world..."
LaFontaine most recently appeared in a Geico Insurance commercial where he was referred to as "that announcer guy."
He is survived by his wife, singer/actress Nita Whitaker, and three children Christine, Skye and Elyse. Eventhough I didn't recognize the name, we have all heard his voice in movie trailers. I say IN...

he is borderline, given that you'd have to explain to 99% of the people out there who he was. However, once explained then 99% of the people would know EXACTLY who he was...its close, but I would have said "in"...he is already in based on voting, so this just seals the deal.

He doesn't count. but if you'd followed my advice and then explained he was the "in a world" voiceover guy, EVERY ONE of them would have known what you were talking about. He got more than the necessary number of votes. He is in.
