What a terrible effort by them on Sunday. DET beat CHI and that left the door wide open for Dallas. All they had to do was win in regulation or OT against a terrible Minnesota team. Andrew Brunette was a beast for the Wild and he has always killed Dallas. Dude is a FA in the off-season. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go after him after re-signing Richards...Oh wait, that's not happening because Hick is screwing us over (surprise, surprise) with the ownership issues. They are even worse than the Rangers situation. It seems nobody is coming up with a deal that will satisfy the creditors. What a beating...
Anyways, this team needs to do something about the defense. They are careless with the puck in their own end and are very poor positionally. The lose physical battles along the boards and in front of the net. *Robidas is decent, but not a #1 defender. *Goligoski could be a Zubov in training. *Skrastins is a solid, veteran player. *Woywitka is spare. *Fistric has shown promise and stupidity for far too long. *Daley is another guy turning into a solid Dman. Extremely fast and good with the puck. He can jump into the offense at anytime.
I'll think about the forwards and post about them...as if anyone cares. This is more just venting my disappointment...very cathartic.

So MATT (the guy that knows hockey), what do the Stars do this offseason?
Any closer to selling the team away from that life-drain Tom Hicks?

Well, it seems that every time there is an offer, it gets rejected by the NHL and/or the creditors Hicks owes money to. Man, that sounds familiar. They basically have to have the 49th lowest payroll out of 32 teams...I hate Tom Hicks. It will basically be a few vets with a shitload of rookies trying to fill out the roster.
The good thing is, since they have had tons of success down here, once they get sold, there is no way that they will suffer the same fate as the Atlanta Thrashers. They are moving to Winnepeg, which is awesome. I use to love seeing that city in the schedule, not a normal sports town (Dallas, New York, LA...), kind of like seeing Green Bay on the schedule.
But honestly, this effin ownership problem that Hicks has created is terrible. Everybody knows how bad the Rangers were off near the end of his tenure, well he has left the Stars in a situation 50 times worse. What's crazy is that the way the CBA works is that every team will make money because of the floating salary cap. If league revenue goes up, each team gets a bigger share, then the cap increases and vice versa. Not sure if that is how the other leagues work, but when it was agreed upon, they made it sound like it was the only CBA with it in the contract.

Oh, but as far as what they do in the off-season...nothing. No cash to really do anything. It'll be bottom-feeding and a bunch of young guys with Morrow, Ribiero, Robidas and the few other vets on the team.

One more thing...Hicks and this slow moving sale of the team has probably set the team back about 5 years at least.

The Stars minor league players and young draft picks aren't anything to write home about. Son of a bitch...I can't believe the Mavs are going down 3-1...
