“Beavis and Butt-Head” has been off the air for 13 years, and I don’t know if that fact makes feel older, or sadder, or both. Likely both. Anyway, the world has missed this show desperately. Music has somehow gotten WORSE. Videos have somehow gotten DUMBER. A nation in need cries out for two cartoon idiots to cruelly mock everything around them with a blunt stupidity that is practically zen in its truth. And now, people of Earth, we may just see the comic duo finally return. Website Reviewniverse says creator Mike Judge is working on THIRTY new episodes of the cult classic. Thirty! YES! YES! THIS KICKS ASS! I AM CORNHOLIO!
Mike Judge is currently outlining 30 new episodes of his iconic animated comedy Beavis and Butt-Head for its native network…
Even better news for fans is that, should this come to pass, Judge plans on retaining the show's original ghetto-tech aesthetic, right down to the faded color palatte. The source also reveals that the Extract director intends on keeping B and B's format identical to its original sketch-videos-sketch incarnation, but with more contemporary music clips for the cartoon slacker-duo to skewer.
Oh, that is just the best news I’ve heard all month. Actually, it’s the ONLY news I’ve heard all month because things are slow. Still, AWESOME.
I grew up with “Beavis and Butt-Head.” There isn’t a single guy my age who doesn’t look back on that show fondly. Somehow, Judge was able to perfectly emulate stupid teenagers while also mocking them and somehow making them smarter than everyone else around them. I still don’t know how that’s possible, but Judge did it. He told a story once about writing lines for the duo during Sir Mixalot’s “Baby Got Back” video, and how all the writers were trying to come up with clever lines. Then Judge just said in Butt-Head’s voice: “He’s standing on a butt,” and that got more laughs than anything. Somehow, the dumbest thing to say was also the smartest. Something like that can only happen on this show, and I pray the reports of its resurrection are true.
